Pursuant to the governmental decision, the requirement to present an interoperable COVID-19 vaccination or recovery certificate or a negative COVID-19 test result is abolished to enter Latvia from the European Union (EU) Member States, European Economic Area countries, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom from 1 April 2022.

As the incidence of Covid-19 decreases, a number of existing epidemiological precautions are removed. Given that travel is not currently influential in promoting the spread of Covid-19, the conditions for entering Latvia will also change. Present requirement to present an interoperable COVID-19 certificate or a negative COVID-19 test results remains valid currently on entry from third countries. When entering Latvia, you will also be able to present a vaccination or recovery certificate issued in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada.

The Ministry of Heath will continue to monitor the experience of other EU Member States in determining rules for travelling, and as soon as there is a trend in the EU for countries to waive requesting a certificate from travellers arriving from third parties, this experience will be taken over in Latvia.

More detailed information is available in Cabinet Regulation No 662 “Epidemiological Safety Measures for the Containment of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection” .

Taking into account that safety measures vary from country to country, we still encourage travellers to check the epidemiological safety requirements in the countries of destination and transit before the flight, familiarising with travelling rules and current requirements with the particular carrier.
